37 week discharge

Question:As the cervix dilates does it keep producing mucus like discharge?

Answer: Yes, as the cervix dilates, it continues to produce mucus just like it normally does.

Both the vagina and cervix secrete mucus, and during pregnancy there tends to be more discharge than normal. It's pretty normal to have a lot heavier discharge toward the end of pregnancy.

You may also notice extra thick mucus as you get closer to the end of your pregnancy. This could be your mucus plug starting to come out.

Sometimes there's even a bit of blood in the discharge. You might get a little freaked out by it, but don't worry. As your cervix dilates, tiny capillaries break and as a result, there's a little blood in the discharge.

Happy Birthing!
